What are JellyFish Lights?

Developed and manufactured in the USA, JellyFish Lights are permanently installed, exterior, programmable, color changing lights. As an Authorized Dealer, Tek Handy installs JellyFish Lights for customers in Maryland, beautifying homes, drawing more customers to local businesses, and enhancing public spaces. JellyFish Lights are installed in a metal track, color matched to the color of the building or home to which they are installed. The color-matched metal track provides a clean integrated appearance, making the lights look like they were always part of the original structure. During the day and from the street they blend in. These amazing permanent lights last 15-20 years! Each bulb is rated for 50,000 hours of use. We find typical usage to average around 6 hours per day, or ~2200 hours per year. At that rate, you could see your bulbs last as long as 23 years! And, even if a bulb goes out, Tek Handy can easily repair or replace individual bulbs to get you back up and running in no time. Individualized Control

Another amazing feature of JellyFish Lights is the ability to program each light individually and create zones. Want the lights in the front to be all business, while the lights in the back bring life to the party? Easy! Just set up zones in the App, apply a pattern to each zone, and voila! Want to create a custom set of accent lights, bringing symmetry to your home or business and highlighting certain areas? No problem! Since each individual light can be programmed, just create a pattern with the specific lights and colors you want and you’re golden! The JellyFish Cloud App truly offers amazing capabilities to customers, and we’re just scratching the surface!

Energy Efficient

But how much will they cost to run!? I hear you say. Amazingly, JellyFish Lights are very affordable to run. Let’s say you run 200 feet of lights (~266 bulbs) at maximum brightness for six hours a day every day for a year. Since we’re in Maryland, let’s assume $0.19/kWh (which should be on the high end). How much would that cost? Roughly $110. Full stop. Less than $10 a month to run 200 feet of lights at maximum brightness 6 hours a day all year long! That’s incredible! And you’ll probably never even reach that number, since most colors don’t get anywhere close to full power (full power is maximum bright white). These are cheaper to run than recessed LED lights!

Smart

In case you’re not already convinced these are the lights to have, things get even better. JellyFish Lights integrate with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Control4. Let’s say you have a pattern named “Mike’s Party Pattern.” Just say, “hey Alexa, ask JellyFish lights to play pattern Mike’s Party Pattern.” The JellyFish Lighting controller will communicate with your Amazon Alexa device to do just as you ask! But you can go further. Do you have a smart doorbell or garage door connected to Alexa? You can set up JellyFish Lights to activate specific zones and patterns when motion is detected, or when the garage door is opened or closed. Want to go even further? The JellyFish Lights controller API is an open API, meaning Tek Handy can interface with your custom or commercial system.
